Privacy Policy

NipponWalk is made by Chu Ventures ("we"). This policy explains what data the NipponWalk website and iPhone app collect, and what we do with it. In short: your health and workout data stays on your device and in Apple Health. We never sell it and never send it to analytics.

Website and beta waitlist

• If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, whether you told us you have an Apple Watch, and the time you signed up.
• We use this only to invite you to the beta and tell you when NipponWalk launches. Email us to be removed at any time.
• The list is stored with our database provider (Upstash, through Vercel). To prevent abuse, your IP address is used briefly for rate limiting and isn't stored with your email.
• The website uses no advertising or analytics trackers.

The NipponWalk app

• Health and workout data. With your permission, the app reads data such as steps, walking distance and body weight from Apple Health, and saves your walks to Apple Health as workouts. This data stays on your device and in Apple Health. We never sell it, share it with advertisers, or send it to analytics services.
• Motion data. The app uses your iPhone's motion sensors during a walk to count steps and measure your walking pace. This is processed on your device.
• Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active subscription. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history, not your health data.
• Calories shown in the app are estimates and are labeled as such.

Your choices

• You can deny or revoke Apple Health and motion access at any time in iOS Settings.
• Deleting the app removes the data it stores on your device.
• To access or delete your waitlist data, email nipponwalk@chuventures.com.

Children

NipponWalk is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
